How it all began…

Our company was founded by a team of individuals with a common goal … help save the health of our planet and the people living on it by reducing food waste! After a trip to the Global Seed Vault in Svalbard, Norway, our founders Amy Keller, Kevin Wall and Susan Smalley,  created our holding company PurePlus+. They were inspired by the variety of fruit and vegetable seeds that are grown all over the world.

Seeing how many healthy foods we could be eating compared to what the average person typically eats came as a shock! Why eat nutrient-poor and unhealthy foods when we could instead reinvent our foods to be healthy and delicious at the same time?

The plan was simple, provide a world of malnourished yet overfed individuals with key nutrients provided by the very vegetables being wasted every day. To do this we will utilize modern technology through upcycling produce and creating nutrient dense replacements through produce for our products.

So what are FAVES? 

The first product engineered by PurePlus+ is a healthy candy using the most climate impactful, nutrient dense vegetables we can get our hands on. We are turning the imperfect produce into a healthy candy. We are happy to offer two kinds of healthy candy – a sour hard candy along with a sweeter soft and chewy candy. These candies provide real nutrients from produce, while adding no processed sugars, making them an especially good sweet for people with diabetes, children, or anyone hoping to improve their health!

‍Each contains micronutrient fibers from the PurePlus+ proprietary line of vegetables including pumpkin, squash, sweet potato, carrots, and beets! And the best part – all you can taste is a sweet fruity treat! This is stealth nutrition at its finest. How else do you get a pumpkin to taste like a strawberry? 

Each serving of FAVES offers a full serving of fruits and vegetables. It is estimated that 90% of Americans do not eat their daily servings of fruits and veggies. FAVES makes it easy and fun to add more produce to your diet, which is why they are wonderful for kids. If you have a picky eater, this may be your new favorite way to sneak your kids a little extra fiber and nutrients!

We live in a world of people who consume too many calories, but they are still not getting the necessary micronutrients they need. The technology we use to create our candy maintains the nutrient properties of the produce inside. For example, we do not heat the ingredients past a certain temperature, because this ensures that the vitamins and minerals are not destroyed when making our wafers. We do this to ensure that every piece of FAVES is packed with fruit and vegetable nutrition and fiber. By using imperfect produce we are fighting food waste while working hard to fuel people with healthy, nutritious ingredients.

As a sustainable business, we want to ensure that our actions help to make the world a healthier and better place. Sustainability is something we must all adopt in our lives, work, and minds. We hope our candy helps pave the way for this mindset to become a reality!
